Tabby Shell jewelry began with Beaufort, South Carolina natives Artist Sonja Griffin Evans and tradesman Kevrin Simmons; specializing in Tabby Shell for over 40 years. As an artist and Army veteran, Evans has lived and visited many places, but nothing compared to her hometown charm, history, landscape and architecture here in the Lowcountry. As a visual artist, Sonja paints her subjects surrounded by beautiful Lowcountry landscapes telling the stories of local life, culture, heritage and history. When Sonja partnered with Kevrin they both wanted to step outside the box and create a unique keepsake for natives and visitors alike to cherish precious memories of the Lowcountry and its unique Tabby Architecture. Sonja came up with the idea of creating Tabby Shell Jewelry. Together they created the first ever Tabby Shell Jewelry designs. Tabby Shell Jewelry is a perfect blend of their creative skills and love for the unique historical tabby shell architecture into wearable art.
